A demo. The first step into the world of Birkrigg.

This song was written to communicate a feeling of refuge somewhere remote, where no one is around. All you have is yourself, your thoughts, and the nature that blows around you. It seems that, as people, we grow in a way that encourages us to be afraid of these far away places. Yet, every once in a while, we will free ourselves enough to wander, far far away.

No matter who you are, you will find something in these places where you will belong. We are all inhabitants of this land, at some point.

Approaching an opening in the field;
sky lined with matted shields of gray
to face, the inner side.

The cypresses gleaned the other drive;
sunburnt and auburn Tuscan rides
to bridge, this unknown land.

Bargained to me in ghostly tongues;
pronounced to this year and Winter,
to know, my younger eyes.

Only to find this lonely barn;
destroyed and barren, cold and shy,
a home, to hide in.

Crest in scarlet undertones;
a heavy beam of oak is towed.
It stands, so welcoming.
